For The Struggling Creative.

We all want success. And we all want to feel fulfilled, to feel that we’ve done our absolute best with our gift and craft.

For some it comes so easy, and for others it is the hardest thing we do daily. When it’s hard, it can tear down our self-esteem. We can find ourselves in darker places, mentally and emotionally, than we anticipated when we began all bright eyed and hopeful.

As a creative that struggles with my worth and owning/loving the talent I’ve been blessed with; I just want to say that it’s okay to allow yourself to relax and not worry so much about making it INSTANTLY.

They say that all things take time, that it comes when it’s meant to come for you. Well, after nearly 20 years now, I can say that is absolutely TRUE. I have not made it where I want to be yet, but I know that I must continue striving.

And you must to.

Do NOT give up. Do NOT give in. Do NOT talk yourself out of your gift and talent. Believe and trust that you have something to offer this world. It may be in a big way, it may be in a small way; but your gift, your talent, what you have to offer is NEEDED. And when you are ready, when he world is ready to handle and appreciate what you have, that’s when your time will come.

It takes a lot of hard work. It takes dedication.

There will come times when it seems you never have time to focus on what you want to do. There will come times when it seems like you haven’t done enough, or that you haven’t done well enough. There will be obstacles. There will be highs, lows, small successes and major failures.

IT IS ALL OKAY. You will still make it.

And if you don’t hear it enough, allow me to be a person who says it with total sincerity; I BELIEVE IN YOU.

xoxo, Cortney.
